Scott's Eclipse Plans: I've already let my students know that classes will be cancelled that day. This is my last shot at a total eclipse. I have not made any reservations anyplace, because I wanted to be flexible on where I go depending on the forecast. Probably too late to get a place along the path anyway. Northern New England in April is likely to be overcast. If we do get a rare clear Spring Day in New England, I will probably drive to Burlington VT and watch it from the shores of Lake Cham…

I've been trying to start walking again. Winter always leaves me fat, lazy and out of shape. Just snuck in a 4-mile walk along the beach between rain showers today while at work.

There seem to be a ton of skiers going 'off trail' this year and getting lost. It seems to be purposeful. I wonder, is this a 'Tik Tok' thing? Anyway, this one ended in a tragedy... boston.com/news/local-news/202…esort/?p1=hp_featurestack

Quote from rhjanes: “That hiker made poor choices followed by more poor choices and then some more. Could he be subject to a rescue bill? ” From the tone of the article, I assume that is coming next. Wonder how much it costs to send two whole Cog Railway Trains up the mountain for one person?

  • Hello Hikers, I am creating this thread mostly for my Connecticut and Long Island friends who join the annual MLK weekend hike, but all are welcome to join the potential hike and discuss. My proposal is that we do an annual weekend hike of the New England Trail (Now officially a National Scenic Trail) with the end goal of completing the entire trail. Here are my thoughts... - Some of these sections could be done on MLK weekend, but I admit I would prefer more prime season hiking. At a minimum ma…
