Quote from max.patch: “What is the world is going on in Massachussetts today? ” Max, the Moops did their thing just a few miles from my house. Instead of filling up their cars with gas before they left RI, they thought it was a good idea to fill-er-up from containers at the side of the highway at 2 AM. That is how they were found out. Not a very bright bunch.

New England Weather! Three days ago Boston reached 100 degrees for the first time in a decade, a temperature rarely seen here. Today Boston's High temperature only reached 60 degrees, the 'lowest high' on this date ever. Strange weather. Astro must be a bit chilly in the Maine woods.

Wow Astro, what a change a day makes weather wise! Looks like you might want to sit out Saturday at least. My wife just suggested we get a room near Gorham for Sunday night, but I imagine you will be on the other side of the Notch by then. Let us know if you hang around just in case.

The northernmost outside ski trail is called 'Upper Pole Cat.' I have only skied it, but it should be an easy grade walk down (probably not mowed, though). But, Wildcat…

Quote from odd man out: “If Esquire says it's hot, then it must be true. esquire.com/food-drink/a26242751/best-detroit-style-pizza/ ” Yes, had my first Detroit Style pizza locally this past year. There is a place in Swampscot, MA that makes a great Detroit style pizza. Of the many pizza styles, I think a New Haven (CT) 'Apizza' is the height of the art form (outside of an actual trip to Italy). But one out of ten pies I enjoy changing it up with a Detroit pizza. I'm looking forward to the real t…

Some things I am seeing make me think this guy did not have the best judgement, and then dehydration can make your decision making worse. Looks like he took a heavy pack up. Probably a good thing he had his gear in the end given his overnight stay, but many SOBOs slack pack the summit. Saw a picture of the hiker wearing what looked to be a heavy rubberized rain jacket. It has been warm up here. It is interesting that even after they got him to Chimney Pond they still thought it best to helicopte…
