For those of us from MI? Maybe. But then I've seen questions that seem obvious to me when three contestants from other parts of the country have no clue. My wife (with two degrees from UofM) asked "Why would they do that?" I say "Duh, They are OSU a$$holes!"

We couldn't ask for better weather for a holiday weekend. After 2 weeks of rain, floods, and tornados, we had low humidity an highs in 70s to low 80s on Fri and Sat. Then we had high humidity and temps in the upper 80s for Sun and Mon.

This video has been all over the news. A boater caught a cliff drop at Pictured Rocks NL. The top of the cliff is where the North Country Trail follows the edge. I attached my picture of the trail through that section when I backpacked it 6 years ago. You have the option of hiking on the left side of the larger trees. Of course I walked right on the edge. youtu.be/7IPpEMLXAygappalachiantrailcafe.net/index…06f9c66bae3013a7cb63266cb

Quote from rhjanes: “Where did Dallas rank? We also have a WNBA team. And the Frisco's Rough Riders. ” So what constitutes "major league sports"? I have updated the calculations to include both the WNBA and MLS. If there is another league pretending to be a major league (I'm talking to you CFL) I'm not interested. I also lumped all the Tennessee and Carolina teams together. Here is the complete list. * City * Suckiness * Detroit * 16.2% * Cincinnati * 19.0% * Miami * 24.4% * Montreal * 31.1% * P…

I did some recreational statistics the other day. The Q: Are the Detroit sports teams as bad as we think they are? So I took the final standings for MLB, NFL, NBA, and NHL from the last complete (i.e. pre-Covid) season and ranked them from high to low winning % (points for NHL). Team were given a score from 0 to 100 equal to the % of the other teams whose record was worse. I then averaged the score for all teams from each metropolitan area having more than one team (e.g. SF, Oakland, and San Jos…

Nice. Reminds me of the time I was on Sinking Creek Mtn on the AT in VA. It was early evening, the ridge was narrow and rocky, and I was out of gas. It was several miles to the next shelter and I suspected that once I dropped off the ridge there would be no camping spots until I got to the shelter. There was a tiny clearing the size of my tent footprint among the rocks just off the trail. I didn't think camping that close to the trail was appropriate but I didn't have any other good options so I…

I saw that movie. My wife is a bird watcher. So on our walks, I will turn around to find she had stopped some time ago to watch a bird so I have to double back to find her. This is why our walks cover a half a mile per hour. She says it's some warbler she can't ID. I say it's small and brown so it's a sparrow, let's go. If it's large and brown and in the water it's a duck. Otherwise it's a Red Wing Blackbird. That covers about 90% of the birds I see. I'm not of a plant person.
