  • Quote from TrafficJam: “Quote from OzJacko: “Dead whales are what they should be eating. Tow the whale into deeper water. Problem solved. ” Years ago, I watched a program about dead whales and how much the carcass supported sea life. It showed how sea life could sense and locate the carcass from very far away...it was really interesting. ” Absolutely - water is an amazing conductor for smells and sounds. And, whales feed everything from the predators to the teeny tiny microscopic critters. Natur…

Quote from Drybones: “Quote from Trillium: “Quote from Drybones: “I like naked faces. ” I agree with you. My point of view is that faces are beautiful just the way God made them. On occasion just a touch of lipstick or a little shadow can enhance the beauty. I feel bad for those women whose self-esteem is based on spending high amount of time, money and product to make themselves look more attractive to others. If others don't like me because I don't conform (knuckle under) to what commercial in…

Quote from LIhikers: “Quote from WaterRat: “The bad ass women are those who prepare themselves for the trail, they rely on themselves to get from point A to point B. I am not saying they can't form friendships and hike with others, I am just saying they do not depend on anyone to get them where they are going. They are self-sufficient. The bad ass women are the ones who get out there and are in their element. They often enjoy the trail and all it has to offer (even the raining, tough days). They…

"Why is the lack of a shower and clean clothes such a turn off for many women? Are we so indoctrinated to looking and behaving a certain way that we can't enjoy life? I know women who wouldn't go to the mailbox without make up. It's sad. I blame advertising and the media for today's warped standards of beauty." There are some women who are not comfortable getting outside (let alone getting dirty), or maybe they have spent their whole lives in the city? If their mothers and grandmothers raised th…

To each their own.... Some women just feel that makeup is part of who their identity. If that works for those women, great. Those who feel the need to dress themselves up will feel that need no matter where they are. Some women are extremely feminine without needing all the makeup, clothes, etc. The inner person will shine through even without the "stuff." Makeup is not what makes a woman feminine. Just because I do not wear makeup (I am allergic to a lot of it and prefer not to wear the hypo-al…

  • I agree. I put my socks through some serious abuse and have zero expectations that they will last forever. I do expect them to hold up a reasonable amount of time and I think it is awesome that Darn Tough has a lifetime guarantee. However, I will most likely not use it unless I happen to purchase a defective pair of socks. That would be figured out pretty fast - Just like when the Smartwool socks started falling off my feet after only a couple of hikes.

  • I used to be a big fan of Smartwool. I loved their PhD Ultralight Micro socks. They fit my feet great! Unfortunately, I started to have issues with the elastic ankle cuff. I ran into multiple pair that seemed to have issues - It seemed like they went with a less expensive elastic. Drove me nuts when the sock would start sliding around. This led me to try Darn Tough socks and now I am a convert. I usually put my socks out on the line to dry, or hang them on the drying rack. I have to admit they h…
