If you want to consider the Foothills Trail to Bartram Trail to Benton McKaye Trail your "Approach Trail" then, yes, one could consider the AT as being 10 minutes from your backyard in Greenville, South Carolina. Y'know, come to think of it, this would also meet the "flip-flop" criteria if you used this approach trail then headed south to Springer, ferried ahead to Katahdin and headed south again....

  • If you go off of recommendations you may well find a gun you like, but miss the gun you LOVE. Most self respecting gun stores nowadays that have ranges will let you try various models out. Seek out one of these stores and find the gun you LOVE. Also, ask around to some other ladies you know that shoot and see which gun stores THEY prefer. Let's face it, a lot of the guys you'll run into in these stores can tend towards the condescending end of the spectrum, they may not even know they're doing i…

  • What Are You Reading?

    Foresight - - Books

    Post

Since I started making the 2 hour drive to Charlotte twice a week I signed up on Audible and have listened to several books. Currently I'm listening to Ty Cobb by Charles Leerhsen and reading The Big Burn by Timothy Egan. Both are really good books. If you're a baseball fan then I HIGHLY recommend you read the Ty Cobb book. The author dispels a lot of the BS that has previously been strewn about Cobb.

  • Speaking of the SIG, I was plowing my dove field this afternoon and made an 11 yard, running shot on this dude. Double lunged him! I was proud of me. gs1u1P57vA4a2N8DtUygUOjkfygJHpprVf5DduzMKFkpX92IB

  • I added a SIG P226 9mm to the collection a while back. I LOVE the thing, but it's weight would definitely pull your skirt down. If ya wanna try it on for size sometime just holler.... For hiking, I still recommend the KelTec PMR30. Yes, I get that it's a .22 mag, but it's a.) light (just over 19 oz fully loaded with 30 rounds) and b.) extremely accurate. Even with the light weight there's very little recoil. Follow up shots happen real quick because the recoil simply doesn't pull you off target.

Speaking of noassitol and heartless women; my son comes walking through the house one day wearing a pair of my pants and after he walks by my wife blurts out, "that's how those pants are supposed to look".....

  • Just finished up field work on a pretty cool survey. It's just over 100 acres, but we weren't running the boundary. The owners have put in a series of trails that loop around to various vistas they created by cutting a bit of timber, an old still site and a cool ass rock feature. We've been locating the trails, bridges, etc. and tying it in with the existing survey. This is the rock feature and my worker bee videoing it..... gW3T7dmCzHoA3ebUJPb-Fl_ZauU28ZjpTieqS4UddIkpX92IB It's absolutely too b…
