    I am not sure how many AT hikers actually know that Mt. Mitchell is actually the tallest point east of the Mississippi. I think there is a trail that now connects the AT to Mount Mitchell, but I have not heard of any thrus making the side trip.

    As a New Englander I know Mt. Washington's elevation by heart (6288'). So this question came down to a guess for me between b) & c). I guessed it right.

I did not know what it was till I got home and researched it, but I thought it quite beautiful. The flowers seem to transition from orange to yellow as they age, or maybe it was the other was around.     Yesterday was pretty nice here, so I brought my BIO for non-majors class outside to explore the 'Rocky Intertidal Zone' for a while. Then I decided to just keep them out there and do the lecture next to the crashing waves and the screeching seagulls. At 48 degrees, they found it rather chilly.
