Not sure I'm handy enough to build my own. ” I had a 13' Scamp and loved it. Pulled it with the Subaru. Check them out:scamptrailers.com/ ” I've heard about these, but never seen one in person. No dealer near us. I seem to recall there was another brand that was similar to Scamp. ” Casita is built just off IH 45. You cAn …

  • A few years ago I reunited with a guy whom I used to play BB with in a similar fashion. After HS we went separate ways and lost contact. By extraordinary chance, we reunited a couple of years ago and now hike together when possible. However he now brings his guide dog as he was blinded in Afghanistan.

Haven’t seen self-rising corn meal since departing the south. One of the aspects of crispy cornbread is it does not crumble as badly when packed into a ziplock and carried in a backpack.

During late afternoon, hiked on a mountain trail just a few blocks from the house. Stopped on a favored outcropping and watched the spectacular sunset over the Great Salt Lake which was made more colorful by smoke from one of the seven forest fires burning in the state. These same fires prompted officials to order wide spread bans on fireworks. However after dark, folks intent upon celebrating the 4th sent thousands of dollars of fireworks skyward. Most years the resulting display would have bee…

Quote from rhjanes: “North Texas. Our summer moved in on us a month early (May). I hiked 8 miles on Sunday July 1. I started around 9:30 and it was already 85. I finished at 12:15. It was 91 with a "real feel" of 101. it hit 101 later that day.....it did it again today, July 2, 2018. I think the "real feel" was like 107. Good chance North TX will be above our average number of 100 degree days. ” Checking the long range forecast for the Hotter n Hell 100 in Wichita Falls in August, appears the ri…

Relief from the high 90s of the past week as a cold (cool) front slid in from the north two days ago. Should continue until Monday. Good possibility of a century ride tomorrow, so the low 80s is welcome.

Quote from odd man out: “I played bass in a bluegrass band. Bass players have the advantage in that we don't usually play the melody so we don't have to know so many notes. All I had to do was know the chord progressions, and in most bluegrass songs, that's pretty simple. 1 4 5 1. Sometimes a diminished 7 if its in mixolydian or dorian. ” ??? Going to expand my vocabulary this evening.

Ewok11. All of what you’ve described has happened to me...except I’ve never ‘almost doored’ anyone. I was 8 when riding in the street as the town had a strict policy on riding on the sidewalk when someone threw open a car door. My bike was totaled but it broke his car window. He moved the bike to the roadside, checked me for injury, and drove away. The police didn’t bother to report my family if he was charged.

Suggest ‘owning’ the right turn lane by positioning oneself in the center of the lane. Prior to routinely doing this, I would be squeezed into the curb by an vehicle mirror or by a trailer pulled by a right turning vehicle. I didn’t do this a while back and was brushed by the mirror of a police pickup truck. As the driver clearly violated the state law requiring 3’ of clearance for pedestrians and bicyclists, the officer and I exchanged viewpoints on the matter. The discussion ended when I calle…
