  • Ok, I'm planning to finish my hike this July, plan to reach Abol Bridge on a Tuesday and will likely hitch to Millinocket (Wife and two grown sons fly in and will meet me in Millinocket on Wednesday. Plan then is for my boys and I to hike Abol - to KSC on Thursday (wife will drop us off and pick up). Then I've allowed Friday or Sat to summit weather depending.....all fly home on Sunday. Do I make daytime parking reservations for KSC for both Friday and Saturday. The wife will not be climbing but…

    Surprising enough, it really does not give you the sensation of being that high - very hard to describe. I honestly am not crazy about heights, being on something "fixed" to the ground is somewhat un-nerving to me, but free floating is something else I've heard tree topping called many things, another fun thing was always just "resting" on top of the water and floating across a lake or river.

    I'll chime in here, Danger Dave - we should meet sometime, don't make wine but definitely like to enjoy it - have a fairly large wine cellar myself. I really enjoy all dry wines depending on the season or the meal. We just did a trail around the Finger Lakes last fall on the way home from my Whites section hike.

    Hello everyone, I'm Drifter from NW Ohio. I recognize many names from WB where I've been primarily a lurker for 10 years or so. Rediscovered hiking about 18 years ago and been section hiking the AT for 11. Plan to finish the final 200 miles in July when I retire from 36 years as a Supply Chain Manager for a large Fortune 500. Trail name comes from "drifting" the skies for 25 years in hot air balloons as a hobby....decided loading/unloading the gondola was getting heavier each year (LOL) so retir…
