  • Quote from LDog: “If you have a dehydrator, cook the pasta and dehydrate it. Then when you do the FBC in the cozy, it'll rehydrate faster. That was the first FBC I did. Dehydrated some spaghetti sauce and some cooked pasta, put em in a freezer bag, added boiling water, stuck it in a cozy, and it came out great in half the time.” Check this out, some dang good barbecue spaghetti for on trail...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQVkNkL9nrw

Quote from LDog: “These come out like Larabars. Raw ingredients, no cooking, just some quality time with a food processor. These kind of bars start with making a paste of dates and other fruits, then adding nuts, seeds and spices as desired. Maintain a ratio of 1/2 cup of fruits that go into the paste, to 1/3 cup of nuts, seeds and other dry ingredients, and it should come out fine. If too sticky, add more dry ingredients For variety consider using dried cranberries, dried blueberries, cashews, …

  • Quote from odd man out: “I have a Sea to Summit Delta Mug. 2.2 oz. Nylon seems to absorb less flavor than other plastics. I use for coffee in the AM and tea in the PM. Tea tastes sucky in a coffee flavored mug. Good measuring cup too. 16 oz filled to the brim is just right to rehydrate one dinner. seatosummit.com/product/?item=Delta+Mug&o1=0&o2=0&o3=304-21 ” Sounds like a good connection. • Got cups that would be nice to sip joe from in the morn and at night like a double wall snowpeak w/handles, sipper top,and hot lips. However when lashing, my MLD850 is large enough to supply a couple cups H2O for a meal, with the remaining designated for hot drink. This is cooking meals in a bag. 1 pot, no cleanup, meal with a coffee. Then saw some Zzzzzzz's.

Quote from jimmyjam: “earplugs in case you end up in a shelter or hostel.” Very rarely use earplugs, but sometimes in a shelter, hey, you gotta. Put a pair in one evening coming thru the Smokies as the shelter was packed (2 floors). I kinda tripped the next morning when my hikin' partner nudged me awake about 10:00 am (we normally start around 6-7ish). I had not heard any activity and slept the whole time the shelter cleared out, kinda scary! I guess I prefer to hear whats going on around me and…

Quote from LIhikers: “Quote from July: “ I got a BIGASS TARP for Lunch!” Really? How does tarp taste? Or do you mean carp? Sorry, I just couldn't help myself!” The cuben is kinda crispy, while the sil/nylon is more chewy. Both are improved with honey.
