cool - yeah I ended a section a few years back in Pawling - Race Brook Falls MA to Pawling - pretty much all of CT in the snow and a flooded Housitanic River - it was a really cool kind of crazy 4.5 days of post-holing and wet feet - I've done everything from Amacalola to Partnership Shelter VA (as of last month) plus Elkwallow Gap, VA through Pen-Mar State Part and all of CT, MA, VT, NH and up to Rangeley ME - the big parts I need to fill in now are most of VA, all of PA, NY, NJ, and upper ME

Did an out and back trail run on Saturday - 12 miles total - Rock Gap to Albert Mountain Fire tower - this 6.2 or so miles put me over the half way mark on re-walking (and sometimes running) the whole trail. Hope all of your guys are well - I have been off the computer for about a year now - I just show up now and again - anyone have a cold beer?

Max Patch - you are right about WB! Hey twistwrist - are you hiking thru? congrats so far. I like MA a lot and VT is even better (I did the Long Trail too one time - highly recommended). But yes,you have quite a bit of great hiking ahead of you - if you have time take a zero at the Inn at Long Trail - that's US4 - they have a band if you catch them on a Friday or Saturday night -it's about 100 miles north of the border. I'm still leaving on Saturday - probably getting a campground or something i…

So, some of you may know that I am involved in a multi-year pursuit to re-hike the AT. (I have thru-hiked once). So far, I've re-hiked roughly half of the trail all over the map. I've done everything from south of Partnership Shelter except for a scant few miles that I need to go trail run in a couple of places. I've also done some of northern VA all the way to Pine Grove Furnace, PA plus I've done all of MA, CT, VT and NH through Pinkham Notch NH which leads me to next week. I plan to drive up …

ok - guess I'm ready to chat tonight - - I've always thought I was too cool for school and then I saw a tent with built in LED lights a couple of days ago - - think maybe I'll try to integrate this into a tarp-tent - - it's the latest cool thing I've seen. Getting ready for about a 150 mile hike - NJ/NY sec of the AT - think it will take me about 7 or 8 days - maybe I'll be in front of most of the thru-hikers - at the end of this, I will be at about 1400 miles through my re-hike of the trail in …

Hey Everybody: I'm still on TOS but this looks like a place I might settle down more. Frankly, I've not been spending much time in front of the computer anywhere lately but WOO suggested that I post a bit so here I am. In 2014, I worked some more on re-completing the AT and did two decent AT hikes. The first was nobo from Harpers Ferry to Pine Grove Furnace, PA which took about 5 days in July (I did MD in 2 days). Later in the summer (Aug), I hiked from the MA/CT border north to N. Adams MA. Thi…

Merry Christmas all you folks. Been a really long time since I've been on a computer or messed around with posting here or on WB. Just got the urge to say hello to you folks. Spending Christmas Eve tonight on my porch in my sleeping bag listening to an owl. Thinking about long treks. Seasons Greetings!

um - I don't really know - I get so much junk e-mail I'm just not sure - - what's up with it? back to the earlier point, why was / is the "other site" so over moderated and full of such hard asses? I never really got that . . . . after all, it is supposed to be a place of information and discourse regarding something that most people on the site consider fun, a hobby, an enjoyable pursuit, something to smile and laugh about, appreciate and so forth. Making everyone feel as if they are on pins an…

Ok folks this is one of the greatest bands that came out of Athens GA - - maybe little known in bigger circles, they quit playing in the mid 90s and have been back together for a couple of years - this is a live track - imagine these guys rocking a campfire - they do and I hope you enjoy the Chickasaw Mudpuppies: www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYB1-hDoevA

Ok - now that I'm here, we ought to make a list of cool kids that are missing. Is that other place so moderated that everyone is over here now. I got abused over there a few times too many and sort of got tired of sitting down with my cocktail and having to edit and re-edit what I thought about topics just to make sure I didn't get kicked out - - over there if you brought up something the least bit opinionated, it was booted from the Cafe (like saying that blue blazers are cheaters) is that cool…
