Nice solution just bill, thank you,. I do have a couple questions though: sawyer claims that the bags can't generate the same pressure as the syringe to properly back flush the filter; since I don't have the ability to generate any anecdotal or empirical data myself (yet anyway), can you "see" any difference in using the bags to back flush vs. the syringe? Can you generate a little more pressure with the 3L platy? does using the bag to back flush decrease the life of the bag since I'm assuming y…

  • so reality has hit me; I've let my little house on the beach on Grand Cayman and am now sitting in PA amongst some newly fallen snow. Damn, it's cold but oh so beautiful; must admit I love the islands but have been jonesn for the woods, the "mtns", the trails; miss a bit of briskness on my face occasionally. 6 weeks to finish prepping for the AT, head to GA 24-Mar. Lots to do, get gear out of storage, but mostly get my ass in the woods and up and down some hills - getting some trail legs back is…

If you can tolerate hiking with a snail - I'm SLOW - I'd love to have someone to go out with. March is dodgy because the weather can be anything from ful…

The Escarpment Trail is another good one, but is also end to end. Not too much in the way of loops, there is one that requires a small bit of r…

you guys are a hoot, thank you all for the welcome. curious who's from the Northern NJ, SW NY, western CT area? I'd love to pick some brains about AT end to end when I get back to the states (which is tomo). will be in NW PA for a while but plan on playing some in the Catskills early march as part of my prep work and to just have a little fun, been a while since I've played in the snow and ice - anybody near that area that would like to meet up and share their wit and experience? Quote from hikerboy: “welcome to lost and found. man that sounds weird. anybody lose a sock?” thanks for the welcome long story behind that moniker but according to my family it fits.....just when they think they've lost me, much to their chagrin I show up again  - shorten it to "laf" and it also happens to be my daughters initials
