PostQuote from rhjanes: “Quote from odd man out: “Quote from rhjanes: “It's when it has rained for 8 days and nights, your feet are water logged, you ran out of food, your girlfriend ran off with your best friend, took the dog and your truck done got repossessed. ” That there is funny. I'm thinking "Comic" for a trail name. ” "......And Then the Hail Came...." ” And that hail can hurt. Still have multiple memories of it in NH and CO.

PostQuote from IMScotty: “Quote from LIhikers: “In preparation for pur hike, that starts June 4th, I trimmed my in-grown toe nails yesterday. While it hurt while I was doing it, I know it'll make my feet happier while we hike. ” Always o n my list o f things to do in preperation for a hike is a good toe nail trim. Not the day before, because I have found that can encourage infections, but about 3-4 days out. ” Was in a hurry last May and skipped that. My first day on BMT (second day if count the app…

PostQuote from max.patch: “Sorry Ty Cobb, but effective tomorrow (Wednesday) you no longer have the highest career batting average. And Babe Ruth, you somehow just lost the highest career slugging percentage. Oh well, records are made to be broken or some such nonsense. ” Now I know. I am sorry about the past we can not change. But this is not apples to apples. So many differences such as scheduling, record keeping, etc.. As my mother used to say, two wrongs don't make a right.

PostFinally Angel Hernandez "retires". Coming from South Florida I have great respect for Cuban-Americans, but that does not justify you keeping a job that you are universally considered by all involved to be the worst at. MLB knew how bad he was but instead of overtly punishing him (umpires should be sent down to the minors just like players not performing), they just denied him opportunities like the World Series. So he played the race card with a lawsuit (which he lost). MLB needs to remember eve…

Saturday burned my scalp from scorching sun in bleachers at my nephew's graduation at Cornell in Ithaca, NY (guess I should have wore a hat). Fortunately they had free bottled water which I downed at least 3 half liter bottles. So drive 800 miles south today to NC and in 60s with a breeze.

PostQuote from max.patch: “Strolling down the trail with a day pack containing a half dozen Little Debbie's and a liter of water as you make your way to a gap where a car/van awaits with all your other gear is not a thru hike. I do not recognize this "record". This individual has NEVER done what thousands of other thru hikers have done -- put on a backpack and hike from one terminus to the other. ” I believe that describes 9 of his 18 hikes. So 9 and "Never" don't seem equal to me. My multiple perso…

PostQuote from IMScotty: “My daughter lives in Queens now, so we go every few months. She has two other roommates, so we stay elsewhere. It is getting expensive. ” I can appreciate that. That would work for me, but unfortunately not if taking my wife with me. I was thinking of catchIng an Astros day game and bringing along my tent is case I get tired on the way back. Wife mentions she might want to go. I say great we should be able to drive back no problem (and if needed I'll have 2 person tent). Sh…

PostI started early in the morning with my headlamp. At least with Hunt (AT) and Abol should not worry about getting lost first mile or so. If you have FarOut probably able to see if you do get off.

Hiking & Biking
PostQuote from LIhikers: “Kathy and I got out for a bike ride today of 13.87 miles through some hilly parts of town. Mid way through the ride we stopped at a bagel shop for lunch. We sat at an outdoor, sidewalk table and had a.good conversation about our upcoming AT hike. I'm getting excited about and am looking forward to the hike. Although to be honest I am nervous about it as we've never hiked near that far before. According to the A T Companion it'll be 1026 miles. ” Just like any other hike you…
