  • Things you will need: (1) piece of silnylon between 24" and 30" square. 25" of 7/8" or wider grossgrain, 19" of 5/8" grossgrain, scissors, sewing machine, and 100% polyester thread- I like Gutterman.

    Step 1:
Mark an "X" in the center of your material Next measure out and mark points equidistant from your center point. I like around 27" for a diameter, so I have marked points out at 13-1/2" all the way around. Fill in between the dots until you have a circle. Cut around the circle with scissors or a hot knife.

    Step 2
Mark 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8, 3/4, 7/8, 1 points around the circle. Mark off 1" on the wider piece (7/8") of webbing- this is how much the webbing will overlap itself. Then mark off the webbing into 1/8's like you did the circle.

Pin the the marks on the silnylon to the matching marks on the webbing. Next gather up the excess silnylon between where you have pinned and fold and pin. About (3) 1" folds works good.

    Step 3
Sew around the webbing catching all of the silnylon folds with the thread.

    Step 4
Fold the webbing in half and pin. Next sew around the webbing twice, once near the top and once near the bottom.

    Step 5
Now prepare the handle for attachment. Cut (1) piece of 5/8 grossgrain (or whatever you have) about 15" long and sear the ends. Cut (2) more pieces 2" lomg each and sea rthe ends. Now pin the 2" piece to the long piece. Sew only the top part of the 2" peice to the 15" piece so that it makes a "Y". Fold the rim of the bucket in half and mark two spots across from each other, halfway around. Pin the "Y" of the handle over the band so that the bottom of the handle extends about 1/2" below the bottom of the bag band. Sew back and forth across the handle with a heavy zigzag in two places. Box stitch the area above the band and below. You're done!
