indefinitely suspended from the team and barred from campus. that's a good start. he even turns his head to see if the ref on the baseline was watching before the hit. of course basketball uses 3 refs... youtube.com/watch?v=xbFplM7eYVA

i saw this video on TOS. i started backpacking in the late 70's (thru hiked in 88) and can relate to a lot of what the video has to say. i have to admit that my big 3 weighed a whole lot less than his (although i also started with a 7 pound tent).

I’m in the market for a cold-weather bag...Southeast cold. I want a down bag able to tolerate humidity.

Realistically, the coldest I’d probably camp is 12-15* but need to be prepared to go down to 0-5*, just in case my planning sucks, which is usually the case. :)

I’ve read that the recommendation is to get a bag 15-20* colder than what you need. Plus I’m a ‘cold sleeper’.

I’m looking at a Western Mountaineering Apache, 15* with 2oz of overfill which supposedly adds 8-10* to the bag. A Feathered Friends Petrel 10^, and a Western Mountaineering Antelope 5* with 2 oz of overfill,

I’m 5’1/2”. The Apache comes in a 5’6” size. The Petrel 10 small is 5’3”, and the Antelope is 5’6” but is wider/more girth.

I’ve also read that the more extra space, the colder the bag,

So far, the Apache with overfill is in the lead, followed by the Petrel, then the Antelope,

Or should I go for the warmest bag on the list, the Antelope with overfill ? Ugh! I hate decisions.

  • Winter Linville Gorge

On February 27th, 28th and 29th I did a two night out and back trip from Wolf Pit Road trail-head to Table Rock mountain and back. In typical cafe fashion I planned this trip while driving 80 mph east on I-40 heading back from the Smokies. I stopped at a McDonald's to borrow some free Wifi to get a picture of a the trails and away I went. Going up Wolf Pit road in my 2002 Honda Accord was risky with the amount of ice and snow on the road. The final hill going down to the…
  • Great Smoky Mountain National Park

On February 25th and 26th I did a nice loop in the Smokies from Big Creek Ranger Station parking lot to Deep Gap along the AT south of Mt. Cammerer fire tower. There was about 6 to 8 inches of snow while going up. I stealth camped due to the amount of snow coming in and the next day went down the Big Creek trail. Overnight there was another 6 to 8 inches of snow and freezing fog.
