Some will watch it because it's a movie about hiker food. (Confession -- I eat pretty healthy but I bought this twice on my thru. And not since.)
But I'll watch it for Seinfeld.
May 3 on Netflix.

I had weather-whiplash this week. Mowed my back and side yard Monday afternoon before making a trip to Syracuse. Landed to find plowed snow piles in the parking lots. Returned to Cincy last night and back to mowing this afternoon.

Retirement has made me rethink my hiking plans for this year. I was hoping to do the Idaho Centennial Trail this summer, but I started thinking I'm not really in shape to commit to 900 miles of wilderness, so I've come up with an alternate plan. I figured on doing the BMT as a warmup hike, but that wouldn't leave me much time to work out all of the logistics for the ICT with food drops, water carries, etc.
So instead, after the BMT, I'll hop on the AT and hike north to NY. I'll then head home to spend a week with my daughter and grandkids, then head up to NH, shuttle to the Canadian border and hike the Cohos Trail down to Crawford notch, and continue on the AT south back to NY and home.
That's the "plan", but we'll see what my body has to say about it as I go north.
I should be in Damascus in time for Trail Days.
A friend told me about the app he uses for walking. It's called Caynax, and it's free. I'm using it on an Android phone and it seems to work good. It gives you all the info you could want like distance, speed, pace, altitude change, calories burned and more, that I don't remember right now. Oh, and of course it maps out your walk. Also you can save the individual workouts. It's also useful for running and cycling.
What do you use to track your walk/hiking.

On February 27th, 28th and 29th I did a two night out and back trip from Wolf Pit Road trail-head to Table Rock mountain and back. In typical cafe fashion I planned this trip while driving 80 mph east on I-40 heading back from the Smokies. I stopped at a McDonald's to borrow some free Wifi to get a picture of a the trails and away I went. Going up Wolf Pit road in my 2002 Honda Accord was risky with the amount of ice and snow on the road. The final hill going down to the…
On February 25th and 26th I did a nice loop in the Smokies from Big Creek Ranger Station parking lot to Deep Gap along the AT south of Mt. Cammerer fire tower. There was about 6 to 8 inches of snow while going up. I stealth camped due to the amount of snow coming in and the next day went down the Big Creek trail. Overnight there was another 6 to 8 inches of snow and freezing fog.
Nestle Nido and Breakfast Essential Based Milkshakes
Nestle Nido is a full fat powdered milk which when combined with water makes a high calorie milk. I add Nestle Carnation Breakfast Essentials to add flavor and additional calories.
