Me too. I've had a couple of moose encounters but don't have the time to type them out right now.

Big walk off hit for Brett Phillips. Worst trade Lunhow ever made was him, Josh Hader. Domingo Santana, and some others for Carlos Gomez and Mike Fiers. Saw Phiilips hit a homerun as a numberless minor leaguer against the Braves at Disney many years…

I was lucky enough to see Jerry Jeff Walker a couple of times. He was a great showman. He does a much better version of Mr. Bojangles that is slower and more heartfelt. Check out this version from his "Great Gonzo" album.

Quote from odd man out: “I'm more familiar with the Bob Dylan and Arlo Guthrie versions. I always assumed one of them wrote it. ” I would say just another case of a couple of Yankees getting credit for the work of a Southner, but actually Jerry Jeff…

Jerry Jeff Walker gone at 78 from throat cancer. Personally feel Nitty Gritty Dirt Band version is better, but I am sure Jerry Jeff enjoyed cashing all those royalty checks for writing it. youtu.be/mDoeUz8vExY

I sold my big trailer and bought a large teardrop trailer which is about half the size and weight of the other. So much easier to maneuver. We took it to Loft Mountain Campground for a break-in. It's peak leaf peeper time in the SNP so even though we went on a Tuesday we barely got a spot. It was very warm for October, upper 70s in the day and only 50s at night. The colors were pretty good, mostly yellow, gold, orange and a little red. Made a fire each night and had s'mores. Really really liking the little camper.

  • Winter Linville Gorge

On February 27th, 28th and 29th I did a two night out and back trip from Wolf Pit Road trail-head to Table Rock mountain and back. In typical cafe fashion I planned this trip while driving 80 mph east on I-40 heading back from the Smokies. I stopped at a McDonald's to borrow some free Wifi to get a picture of a the trails and away I went. Going up Wolf Pit road in my 2002 Honda Accord was risky with the amount of ice and snow on the road. The final hill going down to the…
  • Great Smoky Mountain National Park

On February 25th and 26th I did a nice loop in the Smokies from Big Creek Ranger Station parking lot to Deep Gap along the AT south of Mt. Cammerer fire tower. There was about 6 to 8 inches of snow while going up. I stealth camped due to the amount of snow coming in and the next day went down the Big Creek trail. Overnight there was another 6 to 8 inches of snow and freezing fog.
